How did you get started?
In a tiny corner behind a beauty salon, I established a satellite office of my Uncle's California Travel agency, named Dutch Treat Travel (because we are all Dutch and born in Holland)... I began to work for a very successful agency in Tenafly as well and when the agency owner wanted to leave the business, I purchased it from her.
What sets your company apart from your competition?
The name of the agency signifies that we don't send you someplace we haven't been! With the experience in our office, (we have a 21 year old agent who handles all spring break, etc and range all the way to a 74 year old agent who has been places no one has even heard about) we KNOW our destinations... and usually have connections at the destination to get you upgrades, best hand picked room locations, etc.
Tell us about the coolest wedding you were a part of.
Being an ordained minister, i also perform weddings ..,and i was able to work closely with a couple who were quickly getting married before the groom was deployed to Iraq . While planning their ceremony, they mentioned they were honeymooning at the Jersey shore and spending $3,000 for a "really nice place" They didn't think it was possible to do a "real" trip last minute, and for only 6 short days! I was able to pull in all kinds of favors and get them mega upgrades and VIP's for their dream honeymoon to Hawaii close to their budget. They called me THREE times in 6 days to thank me for surprises they were getting
